It's fun being a groupie!

So far, this day has gone like clockwork! I'm blogging early because I have some time to kill. Right now, I'm sitting in my Blazer, parked in a public lot in back of the 4th & B club, here in downtown San Diego. It's just after 4:00 pm, and I'm awaiting the arrival of Mr. Ondrasik. It's been raining off and on so I'm prepared to run over to him when he arrives, umbrella in hand, to offer it to him so his pretty little head doesn't get wet!

So, I'm typing away on my laptop...it's nice when there's free wireless internet floating around. I even have it plugged into a power inverter so I can run on my car battery. By now, I guess you can tell I like to come prepared. I had lunch at the House of Blues to get my Pass The Line receipt...I hope I can score another spot up at the stage like in Vegas.

This morning, I visited the best radio station in San Diego, Star 94.1. My main goal was to score window stickers, but I was also hoping to meet someone. Her name is Telina...I hope I'm spelling it right here...and I had talked to her on the phone a couple of times. She works in the station's promotions department, and was super nice to converse with. Luck was with me...she was working today, and had some free time to meet me. She was just as nice in person as she was on the phone. We had a great chat, and she even mentioned trying to get a meet-and-greet pass for tonight's show, but they ran out. Still, it was the thought that counts, and I thank you, Telina for trying, although to be honest, I seem to be doing pretty good job meeting and greeting John on my own!

After the radio station visit and lunch, I began what is turning out to be routine...waiting for the bus and John. Now, I was going on the assumption that the bus would arrive about the same time as it did in Bakersfield, around 12:30 pm. I hate to say it but...when I'm right, I'm right! Sure enough, at about 12:45, here came the bus! The driver had to back the bus and trailer into the parking lot in back of the club. At one point, the trailer scraped the sloped driveway, but in no time, he expertly had the bus parked. Of course, I was taking photos the whole time!

I watched as the trailer was unloaded, and talked to the bus driver. It seems after the Vegas show, John took a flight home, and the bus proceeded without him to L.A. Then, today, the bus came down for the 4th & B show, and like in Bakersfield, John will be driving down on his own from home. Then, I asked the driver, "Hey, any chance of seeing the inside of the bus?" He was agreeable to that, but wanted to make sure everyone was off the bus. Turns out, there was one person still sleeping in a bunk...I think I know who it was...but the driver let me on anyway. I got a quick look at the lounge area and peered down the hallway. I asked if it was OK to take a picture, and he said it was all right. I also asked him if he could also take a photo of me, too...AND HE DID!

So, now, I'm waiting for John's arrival. It could be any time now. I hope I'm not making a pest of myself, playing the groupie. But, it's only going to be for three more shows, then, he's on his own. All I can say, it's been a blast so far. I'll have more to say later after tonight's show.

Stay tuned...
