Nina's Night Out

Originally posted on MySpace on September 25, 2006

Well, it was one magical night. Thursday, September 21st I attended Nina's Night Out at The Palms in Las Vegas. I did the VIP thing, which entitled me to attend a cocktail party at the Ghostbar. Free cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, jazz band playing and silent auction. There was an electric guitar autographed by John up for auction, but with the difficulties of getting something like that home, I decided to pass. The party started at 5:00 pm, but it wasn't until 6:30 that John made his grand entrance.

I introduced myself to John...instant recognition! He only knew my name from the emails, but it was like we were old friends. John had some very complimentary things to say to me, which was music to my ears (and he wasn't even singing!). I gave him a small gift, which was much appreciated, and we did the photo/autograph thing. I gave him my Sharpie pen, which he needed to sign other people's stuff. John was wonderful...so down-to-earth, just a regular guy. Believe me when I say it...John is the REAL DEAL! When it was time to leave, I got a gift bag, and I rode the elevator down with John (the Ghostbar was on the top floor).

The concert afterwards at the Rain nightclub was terrific! John performed 100 Years, World, Freedom Never Cries, Easy Tonight and '65 Mustang on guitar, The Riddle and Superman. In between each song, he had a lot of interesting (and sometimes funny) things to say, which was great. So, that was my night...truly one to remember always, because it was my first with John and his music.
